What your role looks like

This role forms part of a closely interlinked Buying team where you will take responsibility for enhancing the existing and future supplier relations. Building a competitive range by researching, understanding, influencing and executing the relevant trends according to the purchasing strategy.  You will find great personal satisfaction in looking at the detail of how our customers shop and their expectations and aspirations.  A full understanding of market trends both locally and globally will be of vital importance. 

Your in-depth knowledge, experience and well-researched buying strategies must be crafted for clear communication of range development and assortment building.  You must thrive on collaboration and the challenge of grasping opportunities to tailor our product ranges for our customers.

The right candidate is passionate about understanding and interpreting trends and brings a level of creativity that delivers the ultimate product range for our customers.

Who you’ll be working with

You will be reporting to the Head of Buying and work alongside a multifaceted Buying team that is passionate about what they do and set high standards for what Yuppiechef wants to achieve. Our teams’ interdependence means that we all feel the effect when targets are not achieved or shortcuts are taken. It is vital that each function in our interdependent network is working towards cohesive goals. This is a great place for the right experienced candidate to share their extensive buying knowledge and skill as well as to be inspired to reach ever-increasing levels of excellence.

Who you are

Besides having the necessary talent and experience for the role, we are looking for a teammate who has high attention to detail and is comfortable driving buying decisions to meet style, volume and appropriate investment criteria. You should find satisfaction in being able to analytically utilize data in order to either validate a decision or conceptualise a refined approach. This role is for someone who thrives within a fast-growing and dynamic retail environment.   This exciting and challenging opportunity will require you to contribute significantly to enabling our business to achieve its long-term sales and profit objectives. You find product sourcing and supplier management exciting but above all, you are passionate about kitchenware and the myriad of opportunities within this field.

What experience and skills you need for the role

This role is best suited for a Buyer who wants to enhance their business experience in a growing and innovative retail business. Ideally, you should have:

  • 10+years experience in the Buying function of a Retail environment
;  with premium brand experience advantageous.
  • Strong and demonstrable commercial decision-making experience in high impact teams

  • Sharp and sophisticated understanding of the Product.

  • Systems knowledge with understanding and experience in managing the impact of decisions across functions. 

  • Comfort in working with a varied suite of software packages and databases related to product and stock control. 

  • Demonstrable examples of making informed and effective buying decisions.

• Pay and Benefits:

We pay competitive, market-related salaries based on skills and experience, and a discretionary profit share based on the company's performance

Your salary is based on a “Total Cost To Company” model and includes:
